This is the
fifth in
a series of special volumes in the Space In Miniature
series called “Tech Reports”. These are available as
pdf downloads only but are full color and you can
print it yourself if you like.
During my
years working in the aerospace industry, I was able to
collect reference material on various spacecraft
programs, many of which were to be launched on the
Space Shuttle. When I updated my SIM 1.1 Primer
and the SIM 3.1 Space Shuttle book, I had some
material left over. SIM Tech Report #5 Shuttle
Payloads combines that material along with
articles recycled from my IPMS Journal columns from
the 1980s and early 1990s. There is also some new
material from me and several modeling associates.
The result is a mix of detailed build articles
(STS-41C), background material on what potentially
could be an interesting build (e.g., OAST-SAFE), and a
few concepts that were made into kits but never
actually flew (e.g., BESS). I hope you find the
results entertaining and interesting.
This book has 48 pages including the cover and
contents, with 130 color photos and detailed
illustrations.

The download
price is $10.00. When you make your purchase, Paypal
should take you to the download site but since there
are random times that does not work, I always send you
an e-mail with a link to the pdf file. Because of all
the photos, the file is about 225MB file so there is a
smaller version available as well if that suits you
better. You'll have the option to
select the file size after you place your order.
