This was a quick attempt to recover from the LJ-1 launch failure. A true boilerplate capsule
was used. Was the same booster used from LJ-1?
Only seven rockets were procured from North American, yet there were 8 flights. Note that the
UNITED STATES lettering on the rocket is obviously curved. The overall appearance of the rocket
and capsule is very similar to LJ-1B. One difference is that LJ1B does not have the extra
plates at the base of the booster.
